Cuddle time is not anytime

The Golden Rule of giving attention and affection is: Your Affection Will Reinforce the Present State of Mind of Your Dog. If your dog is part “Velcro” and can be found constantly at your feet and hands seeking attention and affection, think before you pet. Giving affection to your dog when they are feeling insecure is the same as training your dog to be insecure.

When your dog gets pushy, ignore it. When is a good time to give attention and affection? Whenever your dog is calm and at ease, playing quietly or after you ask for a “SIT” and they comply.
