But I don’t wanna go to the vet!

Going to the vet is an unpleasant experience for many dog owners due to their dog’s stressed-out and agitated responses. Dogs have a superior sense of smell and what may smell like disinfectant to us is actually providing our dogs with a tone of information. They are bombarded with odours from stress, urine, feces, illness, anxiety and even death. When we take into account the vast array of information that our dogs are absorbing from the vet’s waiting room, it’s no wonder that many of them suffer from “vet stress”.

Visit Your Vet Often: One the easiest ways to diminish your dog’s vet stress is to visit your vet clinic frequently. Avoid going to your vet only for major appointments where your dog will be handled, prodded and poked. Go in, sit in the waiting area and practice your obedience cues or simply go to weigh your dog or to book appointments in person. Simple, brief and non-threatening visits acclimatize your dog to the environment and make future appointments a pleasure.
