A happy place to pee that’s not your home

Puppies are creatures of habit and especially so while they are settling into a new home and routine. Their mothers taught them to pee and eliminate in the same place away from the den as very young puppies and so they instinctively will prefer a single place to do their business near your home.

You can use this instinct to your benefit by choosing a convenient place close to home that will be easy to access during the housetraining months. This will be your place to stop at on your way out on walks, on your way back from walks and all the times in between. As your puppy grows and becomes happier on longer outings, they will begin to eliminate away from home- poles, fire hydrants, mailboxes, you name it.
